Hartmut Lange (writer)
Hartmut Lange (born March 31, 1937 in Berlin ) is a German writer .
Life
Hartmut Lange was born the son of a butcher and a saleswoman in Berlin-Spandau. His family was relocated to Poland when he was two years old; In 1946 his mother returned to Berlin with him. Lange studied dramaturgy from 1957 to 1959 at the German Academy for Film Art in Potsdam-Babelsberg. From 1961 to 1964 he was a dramaturge at the Deutsches Theater in East Berlin . Lange used a trip to Yugoslavia in 1965 to flee the GDR to the Federal Republic.
Lange writes dramas, essays and prose, worked as a director at various theaters. The diary of a melancholic , published in 1983, can be understood as a key literary work . Since 1982 he has mainly been writing short stories and novels .
Hartmut Lange has a son (Robert) and lives with his wife Ulrike, geb. Ritter, in Berlin.
