Literature Prize of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation Literature Prize was launched in 1993 by the then Chairman of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Bernhard Vogel .
Since then, this literary prize has been awarded annually to authors whose works are both “politically and socially important” and “testify to an aesthetic and literary quality”; According to the award criteria, they should be “pointers for orientation in times of changing values”. Authors are honored who “give their word to freedom”.
The award is endowed with 20,000 euros (as of 2019) and is presented annually in Weimar . A jury chaired by Gerhard Lauer from the Georg-August University of Göttingen will decide on the award . Other jury members are Oliver Jahraus , Christine Lieberknecht , Felicitas von Lovenberg , Ijoma Mangold and honorary member Birgit Lermen .
