Ralph shock

Ralph Schock (born February 13, 1952 in Ottweiler ) is a German writer, publisher and literary editor. He lives and works in Saarbrücken .

Life

Ralph Schock passed his Abitur at the Wendalinum grammar school in St. Wendel . He then studied German and philosophy at the Saarland University , a. a. at Gerhard Schmidt-Henkel . The studies were interrupted from 1973 to 1974 by doing alternative service . From 1977 to 1984 he was a research assistant at Saarland University. Doctorate in 1984 with a dissertation on Gustav Regulator . Since 1987 he has been literary editor at Saarländischer Rundfunk , since 1998 head of literary editing and as such successor to Arnfrid Astel . Numerous conversation programs with authors or on literary topics; he continues the series "Literature in Conversation" started by Astel. One focus of his editorial work is the history of the Saarland since the First World War . Editor of the book series "Traces" with publications a. a. by François-Régis Bastide , Alfred Döblin , Ilya Ehrenburg , Hermann Hesse . Initiator and editor of the book series "Abitur speeches" (since 1999). Talking u. a. by Herta Müller , Guntram Vesper , Dieter Wellershoff , Juli Zeh , Sibylle Lewitscharoff . Co-editor of the Gustav-Regulator edition. After his retirement, Ralph Schock published his first fiction work in 2017, "Coffee smugglers and socket mice. A childhood in the 50s".

Since 1978 he has been a member of the Association of German Writers (VS) and since 2010 a member of the German PEN Center .
