The publishing firm is a 1995 by Jörg Sundermeier founded and Werner Labisch Berliner Verlag . Kristine Listau , who is married to Jörg Sundermeier, has been a co-partner since June 1, 2016 .
history
According to its own statements, the name of the publisher goes back to a "student joke that became serious". In January 2011 Werner Labisch retired from the management of the publishing house. In 2013, around 25,000 books from the publisher were destroyed in a fire. On June 1, 2014, Kristine Listau joined the management and sales management.
Publishing program
The publisher's program focus is on fiction , non-fiction as well as art and comics . He also publishes city and district anthologies in the “City Books” series . Already published are: the Kreuzbergbuch , the Mittebuch , Neuköllnbuch , the Capital Book , the Münchenbuch , the Leipzigbuch , the Frankfurtmainbuch , the Hamburgbuch , the Kölnbuch , the Bielefeldbuch and the Marburganderlahnbuch .
Verbrecher Verlag is on friendly terms with the newspapers taz and Jungle World . Together with these newspapers as well as with the daily Die Welt and Edition Nautilus , Verbrecher Verlag organized a large reading festival in 2017 for Deniz Yücel, who was imprisoned in Turkey . The same group also organized solidarity readings for Yücel at the Leipzig Book Fair 2017.
