Berenberg Publishing House

The Berenberg Verlag was founded in 2004 by Petra and Heinrich von Berenberg-Gossler , a member of the banking family Berenberg-Gossler , based in Berlin founded. The publisher's focus is on (auto) biographical literature, essay literature and memoir literature. Since autumn 2010 the program has been expanded to include beautiful literature and poetry.

The first four books were published by Berenberg Verlag in autumn 2004. Part of the publisher's concept is to publish high quality books.

Before founding the publishing house, Heinrich von Berenberg-Gossler worked for 20 years as an editor and translator at the Klaus Wagenbach publishing house , for whom he a. a. Michel Houellebecq and Roberto Bolaño discovered. In 2010 he was awarded the Karl Heinz Zillmer Prize of the Hamburg Cultural Foundation for meritorious publishing. In March 2015, the publisher received the Kurt Wolff Foundation Prize, worth 26,000 euros . In September 2019 the publisher was awarded the German Publishing Prize.

Since autumn 2010, fiction titles have also been published. In August 2012, Berenberg Verlag also published poetry for the first time . The bilingual series opened with poems by the American Jeffrey Yang and the Argentine Sergio Raimondi .
