María Sonia Cristoff (* 1965 in Trelew , Patagonia ) is an Argentine writer and journalist .

life and work

María Sonia Cristoff studied literature in Buenos Aires and has worked there as a journalist for various Argentine newspapers and literary magazines since the 1980s. She also teaches Patagonian literature and creative writing .

In addition to her work as a journalist, it is also the preoccupation with non-fictional literature that is one of the central elements of Cristoff's work as a writer . Travel and dealing with her home region of Patagonia are the focus of her works.

In her short novel Unbehaust , published in German in 2012 . She describes what people do with animals on a day that the first-person narrator spends fleeing from an "existential hangover" in the Buenos Aires zoo. Semi-autobiographically, she reflects on her life in the literary scene in the Argentine capital, her existence as a travel journalist, Patagonia and the living conditions of animals today.
