Juan Pablo Villalobos
Juan Pablo Villalobos (* 1973 in Guadalajara , Mexico ) is a Mexican writer and entrepreneur.
Life
Juan Pablo Villalobos studied market research and Spanish literature and lives in Barcelona . There he runs a company for electronic products.
He is a scholarship holder of a research program of the European Union and the Institute for Linguistics and Literature of the Universidad Veracruzana . He is currently doing his doctorate in literary theory and comparative literature at the University of Barcelona.

Villalobos has written numerous literary travel reports, literary reviews and film reviews. Against the background of his economic and literary activities, Villalobos has dealt with a wide range of topics. He dealt with the work of César Aira and questions of the eccentricity of Latin American literature in the first half of the twentieth century. In Germany, Villalobos is increasingly being received as an important representative of the so-called " narco literature " (literature on the drug war in Mexico ). His book Fiesta in der Räuberhöhle received international attention and was translated into German. Ulrich Baron described this short novel in the world as a "disillusioning home story from the dark heartland of Latin American machismo ". In 2012 his second novel was published, which was translated into German in 2014 under the title Quesadillas ; his novel No voy a pedirle a nadie que me crea was awarded the Herralde Novel Prize in 2016. In his book of short stories I had a dream , published in 2018 . He gives young cross-border commuters in America a voice to fleeing minors from Central America.
