Soccer teams

When the Tercera División , a nationwide third division, was founded in Mexico for the first time in 1967 , the Universidad Veracruzana also sent a team into the race. In 1970 the team from Veracruz was promoted to the second-class Segunda Division . She can only just avoid relegation in 1971, which then overtook the university team in 1972.

When CF Córdoba, who had been promoted to the second division in 1974, ran into financial difficulties, he entered into a cooperation with the Universidad Veracruzana and renamed himself Universidad Veracruzana de Córdoba . The team competes under this name in the 1977/78 and 1978/79 seasons. 1979 followed the move from Córdoba to the state capital Xalapa , where the team played for the next two seasons under the name Universidad Veracruzana de Xalapa . After the 1980/81 season, the university sold the second division license to a new franchise called Brujas in Coatzacoalcos , where another team from the Universidad Veracruzana under the name Universidad Veracruzana de Coatzacoalcos in the second was previously in the 1978/79 and 1979/80 seasons League was represented.

The team of the Universidad Veracruzana de Xalapa withdraws after the license sale in the third-class Tercera División and qualifies in the summer of 1982 for participation in the newly created Segunda División 'B' , which will occupy the rank of a third division for the next twelve years and the Tercera División from now on banished to the fourth division. There the team of the UV de Xalapa played until the tenth match day of the 1984/85 season and then sold their license to the Gallos Satélite due to significant financial problems .
