Flood disasters
In autumn 2008 the area of Minatitlán and Coatzacoalcos was flooded after several days of heavy rain. In Minatitlán itself, the Coatzacoalcos river flooded around half of the city, including the ADO bus terminal . On the river boulevard itself, the water near the houses reached up to the ceiling of the first floor.
In the late summer of 2010, the heavy flooding repeated itself for the second time within a few years. The heaviest rains, which brought with it greater water masses than with Hurricane Stan , led to high water levels in the entire state of Veracruz. A water level of 3.50 meters was measured in Minatitlán at the beginning of September. This is around a quarter meter more than in 2008.
