Ernest Leslie "Ernie" Konnyu (born May 17, 1937 in Tamási , Hungary ) is an American politician . Between 1987 and 1989 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Erniue Konnyu came to the United States in his youth. He attended public schools in Jefferson City and St. Louis ( Missouri ). He then studied first at the University of Maryland and then at Ohio State University . Between 1959 and 1969 he served as a captain and later as a major in the Air Force . Until 1981 he was a member of the reserve for this branch of service. Between 1974 and 1980 he was Head of Auditing at National Semiconductor in Santa Clara . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1980 and 1986 he was a member of the California State Assembly .

In the 1986 congressional elections , Konnyu was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the twelfth constituency of California , where he succeeded Ed Zschau on January 3, 1987 . After several allegations of sexual harassment, he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party in 1988. So he could only serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1989 . After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Konnyu no longer appeared politically. Today he lives in Saratoga .
