Charles Samuel Gubser (born February 1, 1916 in Gilroy , California , † August 20, 2011 in Fresno , California) was an American politician ( Republican Party ).

Life

Charles Gubser attended San Jose State Junior College until 1934 . He then studied until 1937 at the University of California at Berkeley . From 1939 to 1943 Gubser taught biology at Gilroy Union High School . After the death of his father in 1940 he also worked in agriculture.

Gubser was a member of the California State Assembly in 1951 and 1952 . In 1952 he was elected as a Republican to the 83rd Congress . During his further political career he was re-elected a total of ten times, representing the tenth constituency of the state of California from January 3, 1953 until his resignation on December 31, 1974 in the House of Representatives of the United States . In the 1974 elections to the 94th Congress, Gubser had not run again. He now settled in Monument , Colorado . In 2005 he moved to Fresno to live closer to his loved ones.

Gubser was married twice and had a daughter from his first marriage. He was widowed since 2004.
