Ned Romeyn Healy (born August 9, 1905 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin , †  September 10, 1977 in Long Beach , California ) was an American politician . Between 1945 and 1947 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Ned Healy attended public schools in his home country as well as Marquette University in Milwaukee. He then studied at the University of Wisconsin – Madison . In this city he traded in securities between 1929 and 1932. In 1932 he moved to Los Angeles , where he worked in commerce. From 1939 to 1940 he headed the local branch of the California State Relief Administration in Hollywood . At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . He served on the Los Angeles City Council in 1943 and 1944 . He was also a delegate to regional Democratic party conventions in California in 1944, 1946 and 1948.

In the 1944 congressional election , Healy was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 13th  constituency of California , where he succeeded Republican Norris Poulson , whom he defeated in the election, on January 3, 1945 . Since he lost to Poulson in 1946, he could only serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1947 . During this time the Second World War ended . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Healy traded in auto accessories and spare parts in Los Angeles until 1969. In 1948 he tried unsuccessfully to return to Congress. He died on September 10, 1977 in Long Beach.
