Michael Huffington (born September 3, 1947 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American politician . Between 1993 and 1995 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Michael Huffington attended both public and private schools. He studied at Stanford University until 1970 and then at Harvard University until 1972 . He then became the head of a film production company. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In 1986 and 1987 he worked for the Ministry of Defense . In the 1992 congressional elections , Huffington was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 22nd  constituency of California , where he succeeded Carlos Moorhead on January 3, 1993 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1994, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until January 3, 1995 .

In 1994 Michael Huffington ran unsuccessfully for the US Senate . After his time in the US House of Representatives, he worked in the film industry again. Until 2000 he was a co-owner of Crest Films Limited. Huffington remained connected to politics in the following years and is active in his party. Among other things, he writes newspaper articles on various topics. From 1986 to 1997 he was married to Arianna Huffington , who would later become editor-in-chief of the Internet newspaper The Huffington Post .
