Charles M. Teague
Charles McKevett Teague (born September 18, 1909 in Santa Paula , California , † January 1, 1974 ) was an American politician . Between 1955 and 1974 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Charles Teague attended the public schools in his home country and then studied at Stanford University until 1931 . After completing a law degree at the same university and being admitted to the bar in 1934, he began to work in this profession in Los Angeles and Ventura . During the Second World War he served between 1942 and 1946 in the US Army Air Corps , from which the Air Force emerged a little later . After the war, he became a director at McKevett Corp. and the Teague-McKevett Co.
Politically, Teague was a member of the Republican Party . In the congressional elections of 1954 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 13th constituency of California , where he succeeded Ernest K. Bramblett on January 3, 1955 . After nine re-elections, he could remain in Congress until his death on January 1, 1974 . During this time, the Cold War and the Vietnam War took place, as well as the civil rights movement domestically .
