Victor Vincent Veysey (born April 14, 1915 in Los Angeles , California , †  February 13, 2001 in Hemet , California) was an American politician . Between 1971 and 1975 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Victor Veysey studied at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena until 1936 . He was then enrolled at Harvard University and temporarily at Stanford University until 1938 . He taught at Caltech from 1938 to 1940 and 1941 to 1946 . In between he taught at Stanford in 1940 and 1941. He later embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1955 and 1962 he was a member of the Brawley Education Committee . From 1960 to 1962 he was also a member of the Imperial Valley College Committee . Veysey was also a member of an advisory commission to the US Department of Agriculture from 1959 to 1963 . From 1963 to 1971 he was a member of the California State Assembly . In August 1972 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Miami Beach , where President Richard Nixon was nominated for re-election.

In the 1970 congressional election , Veysey was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 38th  constituency of California , where he succeeded John V. Tunney on January 3, 1971 . After being re-elected, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until January 3, 1975 . Since 1973 he represented the then newly established 43rd district of his state. During his time as a congressman, the end of the Vietnam War and the Watergate affair fell among other things . In 1974 he was not re-elected. Between 1975 and 1977 he worked in the Department of the Army in the civil works department. In 1983, Victor Veysey was Secretary of State for Industrial Relations in the State of California. He died in Hemet on February 13, 2001.
