Charles W. Bell

Charles Webster Bell (born June 11, 1857 in Albany , New York , †  April 19, 1927 in Pasadena , California ) was an American politician . Between 1913 and 1915 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Bell attended public schools in his home country. In 1877 he moved to Pasadena, California, where he worked in fruit growing. He also got into the real estate business. Between 1899 and 1903 he was a district administrator in Los Angeles County . Politically, he belonged to the progressive wing of the Republican Party . Between 1907 and 1912 he was a member of the California Senate .

In the 1912 congressional election , Bell was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the then newly established ninth constituency of California , where he took up his new mandate on March 4, 1913. Since he was not confirmed in 1914, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1915 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Bell resumed his previous activities. He was also secretary of the Pasadena Mercantile Finance Corporation . He died on April 19, 1927 in Pasadena, where he was also buried.
