James E. Rogan

James Edward Rogan (born August 21, 1957 in San Francisco , California ) is an American lawyer and politician . Between 1997 and 2001 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Rogan attended Chabot Community College in Livermore until 1977 . He then studied at the University of California at Berkeley until 1979 . After a subsequent law degree at UCLA and his admission to the bar in 1983, he began to work in this profession. Between 1985 and 1990 he was an assistant district attorney in Los Angeles County . From 1990 to 1994 he served as the Glendale town judge . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . From 1994 to 1996, Rogan was a member of the California State Assembly . In 1996 he headed the Republican parliamentary group there. In August 1996 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in San Diego , where Bob Dole was nominated as a presidential candidate.

In the 1996 congressional election , Rogan was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 27th  constituency of California , where he succeeded Carlos Moorhead on January 3, 1997 . After being re-elected, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until January 3, 2001 . In 1998, he was one of the Congressmen charged with conducting the then-failed impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton .

In 2000, James Rogan was not re-elected. Between 2001 and 2004 he was under the presidency of George W. Bush Secretary of State in the Ministry of Commerce ( Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property ) and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office . He has been a judge on the Superior Court of California since 2006 . Rogan has been married since 1988 and has two daughters.
