Jerry McNerney
Gerald "Jerry" McNerney (born June 18, 1951 in Albuquerque , New Mexico ) is an American politician . Since 2007 he has represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Jerry McNerney attended St. Joseph's Military Academy in Hays ( Kansas ) between 1967 and 1969 and then studied at the US Military Academy in West Point until 1971 . In protest against the Vietnam War , he dropped out of his studies prematurely. In the following years he completed several courses at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque until 1981 . He then worked in the energy sector, especially in the wind power sector. Since 2004 he has been chairman of the company HAWT , which manufactures wind turbines . Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . In 2004 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress .
In the 2006 congressional election , McNerney was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eleventh constituency of California , where he succeeded Richard Pombo on January 3, 2007 . He was a member of the Science, Space and Technology Committee and Veterans Committee and three sub-committees. MCNeery has represented the 9th Congressional constituency of his state since 2013. He is or was a member of the Energy and Trade Committee and three of its sub-committees. Re-elected in 2016, he will also serve in the 115th Congress of the United States , which will meet on January 3, 2017 . His new legislative term runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018.
Jerry McNerney is married with three children. He lives privately with his family in Pleasanton .
