John All Barham
John All Barham (born July 17, 1843 in Cass County , Missouri , † January 22, 1926 in Santa Rosa , California ) was an American politician . Between 1895 and 1901 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .
Career
In 1849 John Barham moved with his parents to Woodland , California, where he attended public schools and Hesperian College . Between 1864 and 1876 he worked as a teacher. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1865, he began to work in this profession in various cities. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .
In the congressional election of 1894 Barham was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of California , where he succeeded Thomas J. Geary on March 4, 1895 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1901 . These were determined by the events of the Spanish-American War of 1898 . From 1897 Barham was chairman of the Committee on Mileage . In 1900 he renounced another candidacy.
After his time in the US House of Representatives, John Barham practiced as a lawyer again. He died on January 22, 1926 in Santa Rosa, where he was buried.
