Andrea Seastrand (born August 5, 1941 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American politician . Between 1995 and 1997 she represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Andrea Seastrand attended DePaul University until 1963 . In the following years she worked as a primary school teacher. At the same time she began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . She became president of the Association of Republican Women in California. In 1965 she married the stockbroker Eric Seastrand . He was elected to the California State Assembly in 1982 . After his death in 1990, his wife was elected to succeed him in this Chamber of Parliament, to which she belonged until 1994.

In the 1994 congressional election , Seastrand was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 22nd  constituency of California , where she succeeded Michael Huffington on January 3, 1995 . Since it was not confirmed in 1996, it was only able to serve one term in Congress until January 3, 1997 . Today she is the director of the California Space Authority, a non-profit organization, and a California delegate to the Aerospace States Association .
