Douglas Arlo "Doug" Ose (born June 27, 1955 in Sacramento , California ) is an American politician . Between 1999 and 2005 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Doug Ose attended the Rio Americano High School and then studied at the University of California at Berkeley until 1977 . He then worked as a businessman in Sacramento. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In the 1998 congressional election , Ose was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of California , where he succeeded Victor H. Fazio on January 3, 1999 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress until January 3, 2005 . During his time as a congressman, the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , the Iraq war and the military operation in Afghanistan fell . Meanwhile, Ose was chairman of the government reform committee. Since he had promised in his first election that he would only stay three legislative terms in Congress, he decided not to run again in 2004.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Ose worked again in private business, including as a land developer. In 2004 he ran unsuccessfully in the US Senate primaries ; In 2008 he ran for his return to the House of Representatives in the fourth constituency of California, also unsuccessfully. Doug Ose is married and has two daughters.
