Jose Luis "Lou" Correa (born January 24, 1958 in Anaheim , California ) is an American politician . Since January 3, 2017, he has represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Lou Correa studied law at the University of California in Los Angeles, among other things. Later he did not work as a lawyer. He also studied economics at California State University . He then worked as a real estate agent and investment banker. He then became a teacher in the Rancho Santiago Community College District . In his home country he is a member of numerous organizations and associations.

Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . Between 1998 and 2004 he was a member of the California State Assembly ; from 2004 to 2006 he was a member of the State Senate . Between 2004 and 2006, he was a member of the Orange County County Council . In the congressional elections of 2016 Correa was in the 46th constituency of California against his party colleague Bao Nguyen in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeds on January 3, 2017 Loretta Sanchez took the 2016 unsuccessfully for the Senate of the United States ran.
