John Campbell

John Bayard Taylor Campbell III (born July 19, 1955 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American politician . From 2005 to 2015 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

John Campbell attended Harvard High School in North Hollywood and then studied at the University of California in Los Angeles and the University of Southern California there . He then worked as a sworn auditor; later he became a car dealer. In 1985 he became chairman of the board of the Campbell Automotive Group . In the 1990s, he ran two other auto dealerships in Orange County . At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party . He was a member of the California State Assembly from 2000 to 2004 . After that he was a member of the State Senate until 2005 .

After the resignation of the Representative Christopher Cox Campbell was elected in the by-election for the 48th seat of California as its successor in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in which he moved on December 7, 2005. After four re-elections, he was able to exercise his mandate in Congress until January 3, 2015. There he was a member of the Budget Committee and the Finance Committee as well as two sub-committees. Within the party, he was a member of the Republican Study Committee . In 2009, he was accused of financially questionable transactions in connection with his election campaign funding, which, however, had no consequences. In mid-2013, he announced that he would not run for re-election in 2014 and that his term of office would end in January 2015.

John Campbell is married with two children. He lives privately with his family in Irvine .
