North Hollywood is a district of the California metropolis Los Angeles and is located in the south of the San Fernando Valley .

geography

North Hollywood is bordered by Sun Valley , Burbank , Sherman Oaks , Toluca Lake , Studio City , Van Nuys , Panorama City , Valley Glen, and Valley Village .

North Hollywood doesn't border Hollywood . Rather, the district only gave itself its name to benefit from the glamor of Hollywood.

history

North Hollywood was founded in 1887 by the Lankershim Ranch Land and Water Company . The district changed names several times: at the beginning it was called Toluca , in 1896 it was named Lankershim until it was named North Hollywood in 1927 .

In 1896 the place was given a train station, the restored building of which now houses a cafe.

The city called Lankershim at the time voted in 1923 to be incorporated into the city of Los Angeles in order to gain access to the city's water supply.
