Sun Valley is a district of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley . There are three recreation centers there. The current name of Sun Valley was chosen in 1950.

location

Sun Valley is bordered northeast by Shadow Hills, southeast by Burbank , south by North Hollywood and Valley Glen , west by Panorama City, and northwest by Pacoima , Hansen Dam and Lake View Terrace . The parish is at the foot of the Verdugo Mountains and it is prone to flash floods.

population

According to the US census , there were 75,848 people in Sun Valley in 2000. The planning commission of the city of Los Angeles estimated the population in 2008 at 81,788 people. Today the population is predominantly (69.7%) Latinos . Originally, Sun Vally was almost pure white.

history

By 1876, the Southern Pacific Railroad was built in the eastern San Fernando Valley, connecting southern and northern California. The area once had a general store called "Roberts". Today's Sun Valley was known as Roberts after that deal. The name was changed to Roscoe in 1896 following a robbery. In 1946, Sun Valley adopted its current name.
