Jeff Denham
Jeffrey John "Jeff" Denham (born July 29, 1967 in Hawthorne , California ) is an American politician . Since 2011 he has represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Jeff Denham attended Atascadero High School and then Morro Bay High School through 1985 . He then studied at Victor Valley Junior College until 1989 and at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo until 1992 . In the meantime, he served from 1984 to 1988 in the US Air Force , whose reserve he was a member until 2000. He then worked as a private entrepreneur. He still runs Denham Plastics , which manufactures reusable containers for agriculture. He also runs a farm in Merced County where he grows almonds .
Politically, Denham joined the Republican Party . Between 2002 and 2010 he was a member of the California Senate . In the 2010 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 19th electoral district of California , where he succeeded the no longer-running George Radanovich on January 3, 2011 . After three re-elections so far in 2012, 2014 and 2016, he can continue to exercise his office today. His new legislative term runs until January 3, 2019 with the option of a further candidacy in 2018.
Denham is married and has two children.
