John Hans Krebs (1975)

John Hans Krebs (born December 17, 1926 in Berlin , † November 10, 2014 in Fresno , California ) was an American politician of German origin. Between 1975 and 1979 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

After the seizure of power of the Nazis in Germany who emigrated Jewish family to Palestine , the state where later Israel should arise. There he attended the Balfour School until 1937 . He then studied at Ben Yehuda College until 1945 . In 1946 he emigrated to the United States, receiving citizenship in 1954. Until 1950 he studied at the University of California at Berkeley . From 1952 to 1954 he served in the US Army .

After studying law at Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco and being admitted to the bar in 1957, Krebs began working in this profession in Fresno. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . From 1965 to 1969 he was a member of the Fresno County Planning Commission ; between 1970 and 1974 he was a member of the district council of this district. In 1966 he participated as a delegate at the regional Democratic Party conference in California.

In the 1974 congressional election , Krebs was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 17th  constituency of California , where he succeeded Pete McCloskey on January 3, 1975 . After re-election, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until January 3, 1979 . In 1978 he was defeated by Republican Charles Pashayan . After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, John Krebs withdrew from politics. He spent his old age in Fresno.
