Salud Carbajal
Salud Carbajal (born November 18, 1964 in Moroleón , Guanajuato , Mexico ) is an American politician . Since January 3, 2017, he has represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Salud Carbajal was born in Mexico but came to the United States early with his parents. The family finally came to Oxnard in Ventura County in California via Arizona . He later moved to Santa Barbara , where he is based to this day. He studied administration at the Fielding Graduate University . He then attended the University of California at Santa Barbara. He subsequently served in the United States Marine Corps reserves for eight years . That included the time of the Second Gulf War .
Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . Since 2004 he has served on the Santa Barbara County County Council . In the 2016 congressional election , Carbajal was elected to the United States House of Representatives in the 24th constituency of California against Republican Justin Fareed in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Lois Capps on January 3, 2017 , who failed to serve after 18 years in office in 2016 had run more for Congress .
