Samuel D. Woods

Samuel Davis Woods (born September 19, 1845 in Mount Pleasant , Maury County , Tennessee , †  December 24, 1915 in San Francisco , California ) was an American politician . Between 1900 and 1903 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In February 1850, Samuel Woods came to Stockton , California with his parents , where he later attended public schools. After a subsequent law degree and his admission to the bar in 1875, he began to work in Stockton and San Francisco in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

After the resignation of MP Marion De Vries , Woods was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC at the by-election due for the second seat of California , where he took up his new mandate on December 3, 1900. After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1903 . In 1902 he renounced another candidacy. After his time in the US House of Representatives, Samuel Woods practiced as a lawyer again. He died in San Francisco on December 24, 1915.
