Marian E. Krogius "Mimi" Walters (born May 14, 1962 in Pasadena , California ) is an American politician . From January 2015 to January 2019 she represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Mimi Walters studied at the University of California in Los Angeles until 1984 and later worked as a stockbroker. Politically, she joined the Republican Party . Between 1996 and 2000 she was a member of the Laguna Niguel parish council ; from 2000 to 2004 she was mayor of this municipality. In 2005 she was elected as a member of the California State Assembly , which she remained in until 2008. She then sat in the California Senate until 2015 . In 2010, she ran unsuccessfully for the office of State Treasurer of California.

In the congressional elections of 2014 Walters on the 45th was  constituency of their state in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC voted where they succeed on January 3, 2015 John BT Campbell took, who did not stand. She won 65:35 percent of the vote against Democrat Drew E. Leavens. Since she was confirmed in office in 2016, she also served in the 115th Congress of the United States , which will meet on January 3, 2017 . She lost the 2018 elections to Katie Porter (D)
