Laguna Niguel is a city in Orange County in the US state of California , United States , with 66,151 inhabitants (estimate 2017). The urban area extends over an area of 38.1 km².
The city is located southwest of the Santa Ana Mountains not far from the Pacific (just under 10 km) southeast of Los Angeles (about 90 km) and north of San Diego (about 120 km). It is surrounded by Aliso Viejo , Dana Point , Laguna Beach , Laguna Hills , Mission Viejo, and San Juan Capistrano . Interstate 5 runs east of the city .
