William P. Baker

William Pond Baker (born June 14, 1940 in Oakland , California ) is an American politician . Between 1993 and 1997 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Baker attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1963 the San José State College . From 1957 to 1965 he was a member of the US Coast Guard Reserve . In the following years he worked as a businessman and farmer. Between 1978 and 1972 Baker was an accountant at the California Treasury Department. He then served as Vice President of the Taxpayers' Association in Contra Costa County until 1978 . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1981 and 1993 he was a member of the California State Assembly .

In the 1992 congressional election , Baker was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of California , where he succeeded Don Edwards on January 3, 1993 . After a re-election, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until January 3, 1997 . In 1996 it was not confirmed. He has not appeared politically since then.
