Nanette Barragán

Nanette Diaz Barragán (born September 15, 1976 in Harbor City , Los Angeles , California ) is an American politician . She has represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives since January 3, 2017 .

Career

Nanette Barragán studied political science at the University of California in Los Angeles. After completing a law degree at the University of Southern California and being admitted to the bar in 2005, she began working in this profession. During her studies, she was also on the board of directors of the Gillian S. Fuller Foundation , a foundation that deals with issues such as education, the environment and youth programs.

Politically, she joined the Democratic Party . During the presidency of Bill Clinton she was with the Department of Public Relations ( Office of Public Liaison hired). There she worked in the department that coordinated the liaison between the President and African American organizations. In 1999 she worked for the NAACP for some time . In 2012, she stopped practicing as a lawyer in Florida to support the election campaign for the re-election of President Barack Obama . Between 2013 and 2015, she served as the first woman of Latin American origin on the Hermosa Beach City Council in Los Angeles County .

In the congressional elections of 2016 Barragán was built in the 44th constituency of California against their party colleagues Isadore Hall in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC voted where they succeed on January 3, 2017 Janice Hahn took that had 2016 no longer a candidate .
