Thomas Rolph

Thomas Rolph (born January 17, 1885 in San Francisco , California , †  May 10, 1956 ) was an American politician . Between 1941 and 1945 he represented the state of California in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Thomas Rolph was the younger brother of Governor James Rolph (1869-1934). He attended the public schools in his home country and the Humboldt Evening High School . In 1912 he founded a trading agency for building materials, of which he was to remain president until his death. Politically, he joined the Republican Party .

In the 1940 congressional election , Rolph was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of California , where he succeeded Franck R. Havenner , whom he had defeated in the election, on January 3, 1941 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until January 3, 1945 . These were shaped by the events of the Second World War . In 1944 Rolph lost to his predecessor Havenner.

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Thomas Rolph retired from politics. He continued to do business and died on May 10, 1956 in San Francisco.
