Hans Joachim von Grünthal

Hans Joachim von Grünthal (born November 17, 1576 , † October 29, 1639 ) was councilor of Württemberg, chief steward of the Tübingen Collegium illustrious and chief bailiff in Tübingen.
Live and act
Hans Joachim (also Johann Joachim) came from the noble family Grienthal / Grünthal . He was the twenty-fifth and last child of his father Wolfgang von Grienthal and his second wife Ursula Kölnpöck. In 1599 Hans Joachim became court master of the dukes Philipp and Albert of Holstein in Tübingen . In 1600 he became councilor and colonel court master of Duke Johann Friederich von Württemberg and the Württemberg ambassador to the court of Emperor Rudolf II , Matthias and Ferdinand II. This made Hans Joachim in 1625 (with a diploma from July 4, 1625 in Neustadt) imperial palatinate and court counts (Comes palatinus).
In 1606 he became rector of the Collegium illustrious of Tübingen and implemented the idea of a knight academy developed by his prince. He began a systematic advertising campaign for the training center by having brochures with a picture of the college and its new statutes distributed throughout the empire. These statutes showed a shift in the emphasis in the field of education from religious to chivalric objectives. Foreign languages and rhetoric were given more weight, and imperial and feudal law were read in the legal lectures. Grünthal's reform proved successful.
