Dußlingen Castle (Baden-Württemberg)
Dusslingen Castle

The castle Dußlingen even Herter called, is the ruin of a castle in the municipality Dußlingen in Baden-Württemberg Tübingen district .

The castle was probably built in the second third of the 13th century, which is also indicated by the Hohenstaufen humpback cubes walled on the ground floor . The castle was owned by the Lords of Dusslingen, a noble family that had named themselves after the town of Dusslingen in the 12th century and was temporarily in the service of the Count Palatine of Tübingen . In 1266 the castle was mentioned in the possession of the Herter family, after whom the castle was nicknamed Herter . In 1725 the municipality of Dußlingen acquired the building, which served as the town hall until 1949 and is now inhabited.

Of the other castle complex, of which only the remains of the wall with humpback blocks have survived, the Jacob and Andreas chapel on the moat also belonged to, which is no longer preserved .
