Brawley is a city in Imperial County in the US state of California with just under 25,000 inhabitants. The metropolitan area covers an area of 15.1 km² and is located on California State Routes 78 , 86 and 111 .
It was used to film the film Jarhead .
Demographics
The 2010 census showed a population of 24,953. This increased the urban population by almost 3000; according to the 2000 census , 22,052 people lived in Brawley. The majority of residents are Latinos , with 81 percent one of the highest in the United States. African Americans and Asians are minorities and together only make up a good percent. The rest of the population are whites of European descent. The number of households in the 2010 census was 8,231. For every 100 women there were 94.3 men, while the median age was 30.2 years.
