location
Niland is on the Salton Sea near the border with Riverside County . The place forms the northern end of the intensely agricultural Imperial Valley between the Salton Sea and the Chocolate Mountains in the east. To the east, the Algodones dunes begin , which, like the Imperial Valley, extend to the Mexican border.
The area covers an area of 1.1 square kilometers. The location is on California State Route 111 .
Attractions
About five kilometers to the east are the Salvation Mountain art installation and the Slab City trailer park . Salvation Mountain is an installation started in 1984 in the form of a brightly painted artificial hill made of clay, straw, tires and other materials. The creator of the hill Leonard Knight is still working on the expansion and wants to use the work to praise the love of God.
The Niland geyser as a mud geyser attracts attention because it changes its location.
