Palo Verde (formerly Paloverde ) is a village in Imperial County in the US state of California . Its population is 271 as of the 2010 census . Palo Verde lies on the border with Riverside County near the border with the state of Arizona and is crossed by countless canals. The village is on California State Route 78 .
