The California State Route 86 (abbreviated CA 86 ) is a state highway in the US state of California , which runs north-south direction.
The State Route begins on California State Route 111 near Indio and ends at Calexico near the Mexican border again at CA 111. After the intersection with Interstate 8, the State Route first runs through the Imperial Valley , then in contrast to CA 111, to the west past the Salton Sea and then through the Coachella Valley .
CA 86 is indirectly connected to Interstate 10 via the California State Route 86S bypass that begins at Oasis .
