Klaus Dirschauer (born July 4, 1936 in Neustrelitz ) is a German Protestant theologian and book author.

Life

Dirschauer attended elementary school in Kalisch im Warthegau and spent his early childhood in German-occupied Poland . He has lived in Bremen since 1946 . After graduating from high school in Bremen, he studied German , psychology , philosophy and theology at the universities of Münster and Hamburg from 1957 to 1964 .

After his vicariate in the Bremen-Mitte Clinic and attending the seminary in Berlin-Nikolassee, he took over a parish priesthood in the west of Bremen. In 1972 he received his doctorate in theology from the Philipps University of Marburg . He received his doctorate on July 14, 1972 in systematic theology on the subject of What does modern theology do for the case of burial? The dissertation was published under the book title The deadly death . In the same year he became a training officer for the Evangelical Church in Bremen . Dirschauer was responsible for the education and training of clergy and church workers in Bremen. He held this position until his retirement in 1999. In addition, he held a permanent teaching position at the University of Bremen during the vacancy of the religious studies chair . Dirschauer was a lecturer at the federal training center for undertakers in Münnerstadt in Lower Franconia until 2018 and has been a lecturer at the Academy for Further Education at the University of Bremen since 2016 . He has published numerous works on the subject of aging, dying, death and grief.

Private

Since 1959 Dirschauer was married to Ingeborg Dirschauer, née Hildebrand. She died in Prague on July 4, 1993. The marriage had four children. In 1999 he married Lore Dirschauer-Volkelt, née Hotzler, who brought three children into the marriage. He is a passionate epee fencer in the Fecht Club Bremen Nord and the grandfather of 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Because of her, he has dealt extensively with the rite and rituals in recent years and has also written a book on it.
