Ted Gaier (* 1964 in Stuttgart ) is a German musician , director and actor . He is co-founder of the music label Buback and the Hamburg band Die Goldenen Zitronen , whose lyricist, bassist, guitarist and keyboardist he is to this day.

His mother is the filmmaker and artist Margit Czenki .

In addition to his main band, the Golden Lemons , Gaier regularly works with and on other band projects ( Die Stars , 3 Normal Beatles (with Julius Block ) , Les Robespierres , Schwabinggrad Ballett ) and is responsible as a producer of various sound carriers (including Schnipo Schranke , Robespierres , L 'Amerique and as co-producer of the last six “lemon” LPs).

Gaier has also directed numerous music video clips . The music video Die Goldenen Zitronen: The investor that he realized together with Timo Schierhorn and Katharina Duve received an award at the 2014 Oberhausen Short Film Festival.

For some time he has also been making theater music, for example for the play The Holy Johanna of the Schlachthöfe at the Hanover Theater . Gaier is also active as an actor. For example, he plays in the film Hölle Hamburg, written by him, Peter Ott and Peter Purtschert and staged together with Peter Ott .

Furthermore, Gaier founded the music label Buback in 1987 together with his bandmate Ale Dumbsky from Die Goldenen Zitronen at Buttstrasse 50 in Hamburg-Altona , where they lived in a shared apartment . In the following year, however, Gaier got out.

On February 20, 2020, his book Argumentepanzer was published , which was published by Verbrecher Verlag . The book contains articles for newspapers and magazines, essays, and lyrics by Gaier published over the past 20 years.
