Mense Reents (born June 19, 1970 in Wittmund ) is a German musician and music producer . He is a solo artist and member of various bands. Reents lives in Hamburg .

biography

In the early 1990s Reents moved from East Frisia to Hamburg and initially played bass with the bands Huah! and the government . At times he was also the bass player in the band Das Neue Brot, founded by the brothers Jimi Siebels and Jakobus Durstewitz (formerly Jakobus Siebels) .

In 1995 Reents founded the house band Egoexpress with Jimi Siebels , who have been taking a break since 2007. In the same year he founded the electronic rock band Stella with Elena Lange and Thies Mynther . He has been a member of the Goldene Zitronen since 2000 , where he plays various instruments, but mostly keyboards . 2003 be released debut album from free will .

With the painter and musician Jakobus Durstewitz, Reents founded the project Die Vögel in 2007 during Durstewitz's stay in Kassel as part of the off- Documenta .

Since 2011 Reents has also been the drummer of the band NRFB and is a regular guest musician on releases from other Hamburg bands and musicians, such as B. by DJ Koze , Andreas Dorau , JaKönigJa , Knarf Rellöm or Die Sterne appeared.

In addition, he has produced , recorded and mixed albums and songs for other artists and groups such as 1000 Robota , Chicks on Speed , FSK and Sophia Kennedy . Reents showed himself to be responsible for the production of the two works in addition to his musical involvement in the albums Death Melodies and Die Liebe und Der Ärger Der Andere by Andreas Dorau.

Mense Reents is the brother of actress Henny Reents .
