Many critics rated this album rather mediocre. There was widespread agreement that it sounds a lot more rock than the last albums and that Frank Spilker's lyrics have become clearer. Wolfgang Kienast from the music magazine Visions awarded 6 out of 12 points, because Das Weltall ist too far could not always meet the high expectations after the previous album Irres Licht . Kienast saw the production of the album as a main point of criticism, which was taken over by the band itself and summarized: "The result sounds a little weak."

Thorsten Thiel from Plattentests.de also gave only half the number of points with 5 out of 10 points. He stated that the band was "... back in protest, back in funk and rock. The search for a point of view is complete - you are back where you started more than a decade ago: lively half-brainedness, between protest pose and cultural café. Introvert was yesterday, today may be spit again. " He praised Spilker's lyrics and especially emphasized the title We don't stir from the spot , but the album as a whole lacks something that he described as follows: "Seldom has there been so much personal disregard on a star album, so little reflection on defeats, so little blinked his eyes, just as little the rhythm varies. "

Rainer Henze from the online magazine laut.de made a similar statement , but rated the album a lot better with 4 out of 5 stars.

Chart placements
