Räuber und Gut was again better received by the critics than the previous album Das Weltall ist zu weit . Jan Wigger awarded 7 out of 10 points and wrote for Der Spiegel that this album contained "... with" Evening going out "," At the pole of power "and" When I'm realistic "... I like the most interesting "(1997)." He describes the basic theme of the album as follows: "" Robbers and guts "illuminates the status of the individual in the world of goods and in the stranglehold of his own, usually difficult to modify, thought pattern.

In the 4-ear test of the music magazine Visions , Robbers and Guts received 8 out of 12 points from Kristina Koch and only 4 out of 12 points from Jörg Staude. Koch justified her assessment as follows: "If you don't just like it because of its snottiness, you can look forward to a great pop production and experience it more relaxed and fresh than ever: spring-like production and Spilker's voice as clear as if he were clear about everything . " The album is convincing (almost) all along the line.

For the online magazine laut.de , Klaus Teichmann titled his review with " wonderfully excessive, aggressive and lively " and stated, "... on" Räuber und Gedärm "[is] the very own star sound again: aggressive, driving guitar tinkling rocks lively hedonistic text fragments. " For this he awarded 4 out of 5 stars.
