Egoexpress is a German house band.

history

The band consists of the Hamburg musicians Mense Reents (also with Die Goldenen Zitronen and Stella ) and Jimi Siebels alias Jimi Orgl (also with the group Sand11 ). Siebels used to play together with his brother Jakobus Durstewitz , who is a member of the band JaKönigJa , in Das Neue Brot . Reents played bass guitar with the bands Huah! In the early 1990s . as well as the government .

Coming from the indie environment, Egoexpress approached the electronic game of house without much knowledge of the genre and with conscious naivety , which was a novelty as a transfer of the "non-musician attitude" typical of Hamburg bands of the early 1990s to electronic music. Thanks to their rock sound aesthetics, which they developed early on and their live performances, which were unusual for electronic projects at the time, Egoexpress are now considered pioneers of rock-influenced electronics and are therefore seen as pioneers for later styles such as electroclash .

The band has been at home with the Hamburg label ladomat2000, which is a sub-label of L'age d'or , since it was founded in 1995 . In addition to their own publications, Reents and Siebels are in demand as remixers for numerous artists. Appeared u. a. Remixes for Bob Sinclar , Die Sterne , Deichkind , DJ Phono , Fischmob , Discotizer , Rocko Schamoni , Miss Kittin , Tocotronic , negrocan , Andreas Dorau , Tomcraft , Mitte Karaoke , Einmusik , Jens Friebe , Kid Alex .
