Bob Sinclar (born May 10, 1969 ; actually Christophe Le Friant ) is a French record producer , DJ , remixer and co-owner (with DJ Yellow ) of the record label Yellow Productions .

Career

Sinclar started his career as a hip-hop - and radio - DJ at the age of 18 years under the name Chris the French Kiss . His first big success was Gym & Tonic in collaboration with Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk . The song caused a stir because Sinclar had illegally mixed in a sample with the voice of Jane Fonda . Since Sinclar and Bangalter were not allowed to publish the song in England, it was unceremoniously re-recorded by the English formation Spacedust and on October 24, 1998 they reached number 1 in the British charts. Bob Sinclar is a play on the name of Bob Saint-Clar, the fantasy alter ego of Jean-Paul Belmondo time nature in the film Le Magnifique by Philippe de Broca .

Bob Sinclar's productions have long been known as a representative of the French house style . Newer productions are more likely to be described as pop and consist of a mixture of house and hip-hop. His song Feel for You , a tribute to French musician Cerrone , from his second album Champs Elysées , came in 9th in the UK Top 40 .

Sinclar also works on hip-hop and acid jazz pieces under the pseudonyms The Mighty Bop and Reminiscence Quartet . He also founded the Africanism project, which combines house music with Latin , jazz and African music . His collaboration with the Brazilian singer Salomé de Bahia deserves special mention, whose joint work Outro Lougar was a great success at the turn of the millennium.

2005 Love Generation ( feat. Goleo VI and Wailers singer Gary Pine ) was published as the official song of the mascot of the 2006 World Cup, Goleo VI (but not, as is often wrongly assumed, as an official World Cup song). Between February and April 2006 it was number 1 in the German charts several times. Love Generation became the best-selling single in 2006 in Germany.

It is noticeable that Bob Sinclar used the boy David Beaudoin as the main actor in the music videos in his songs Love Generation , World, Hold On and Rock This Party .

In 2006 he was awarded the prize of currently the best disc jockey in the world at the World Music Awards in London .

In 2010, Bob Sinclar released the album Made in Jamaica with reggae versions of his greatest hits. The album was recorded and recorded entirely in Jamaica , with Sly & Robbie among others involved in the recordings . With World, Hold On , a song from it was released in advance as an MP3 for free download.
