Henny Reents (born December 24, 1974 in Wittmund ; full name Christina Henny Reents ) is a German actress .

Life

Origin and education

Henny Reents grew up as the third of five children in Wittmund ( East Friesland ). Her brother is the musician and producer Mense Reents . Since childhood, she has been interested in sports, dance and music. At the age of 16 the opportunity arose to take ballet lessons, shortly afterwards she made the decision to devote herself to dance and teaching professionally.

After graduating from high school, Reents first studied dance education from 1994 to 1998 at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . She completed her studies with a diploma. In 1996 she interrupted her studies for a year abroad at the Amsterdam University of the Arts with a major in Urban Contemporary Jazz Theater, which is unique in Europe . The minor subjects included acting and singing. She describes the time in Amsterdam as groundbreaking and formative in terms of her artistic thinking and work.

Inspired by the varied training and contact with other students and artists from the fields of dance, choreography , acting, singing and cabaret, Henny Reents' desire to become a theater actress grew. This was followed by studies (1999–2002) at the School of Drama in Hamburg . In parallel to studying dance and acting, Reents worked as a freelance dancer for various dance productions from 1996 to 2000, including at the Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam , the Schauspielhaus Leipzig and the Musikalische Komödie Leipzig.

After Reents first appeared on the theater stage at the Lichthof Theater in Hamburg in 2002, she has appeared more regularly at the theater since 2008, parallel to her work in film and television, including in John Cage's A House Full Of Music . Between 2008 and 2011 she was seen on the stage at Ballhaus Naunynstraße Berlin under the artistic direction of Shermin Langhoff , a. a. in the play The Swans from the Slaughterhouse by Hacan Mican Sivas. In 2011 she took on the leading role of Helen in the play Der trained Mann, based on a pamphlet by Esther Vilar at the Theater an der Kö in Düsseldorf . In 2016 Reents was seen as Lola in the play Tonight: Lola Blau , musical for an actress, by Georg Kreisler and directed by Elisabeth Engstler in the Theaterforum Kreuzberg - Berlin.

During her final semester at the drama school in Hamburg, Max Färberböck discovered her for his feature film September (2003). Further film productions followed , including a. the psychodrama Kaltmiete by Gregor Buchkremer (2006) and the theater adaptation Peer Gynt (also 2006) directed by Uwe Janson with Robert Stadlober , Karoline Herfurth and Ulrich Mühe , in which she took on the role of Ingrid. In 2007 Henny Reents was seen alongside Moritz Bleibtreu in Chiko von Özgür Yildirim . She took a guest role in Juliane Fezer's film Meeres Stille from 2012. The gangster film Banklady (2014) by Christian Alvart received a lot of attention .

On television, Henny Reents became popular with her portrayal of the intern Charlotte Marquart in the SAT.1 series Alphateam (Season 8, 2003) and the gruff medical assistant Melanie Brock in Doctor Martin (2006) alongside Axel Milberg known. She was previously seen in an episode role in the series Bronski and Bernstein directed by Sigi Rothemund , before she played the leading female role in the Pro7 television films Verfluchte Beute and In Pretty Women All Tricks Are Allowed (2004) as well as in the ZDF- Komödie Deutschmänner (2005) directed by Ulli Baumann took over. Between 2007 and 2009, she stood in front of the camera as Commissioner Wagner for the multi-award-winning ZDF series KDD - Criminal Investigation . a. received the German Television Prize 2007 for Best Series and the Adolf Grimme Prize 2008 for Best Ensemble. Until the beginning of 2020, Henny Reents played the main role of the village police officer Lona Vogt, head of a one-woman precinct, at the side of Hinnerk Schönemann in the crime fiction format of ARD Nord bei Nordwest ; in the episode “In my own business” broadcast on February 6, 2020, she was shot on duty and died a serial death. In 2016 the historical film Minute of Silence based on a story by Siegfried Lenz with her as Frauke Bruns was broadcast on ZDF. In the same year Henny Reents was seen in the role of Belle in the international three-part film Winnetou - The Myth Lives after Karl May's Winnetou , directed by Philipp Stölzl , alongside u. a. Nik Xhelilaj , Wotan Wilke Möhring , Iazua Larios , Milan Peschel , Jürgen Vogel , Michael Maertens and Mario Adorf . After almost seven years in the Nord bei Nordwest team , she announced that she would be withdrawing from the series at the beginning of 2020 in order to devote herself to new projects.

Private

Henny Reents, mother of a son (* 2011), lives in Berlin .
