Village police officer Lona Vogt has woken up from her coma and is back on duty. However, she now has to share her territory with the vet and part-time police officer Hauke ​​Jacobs, whose care soon gets on her nerves. Before she can talk to him about it, a body is discovered in a salt box. While the two are starting to investigate this murder case, undercover investigator Timo Karstensen returns to Schwanitz and reveals to veterinary assistant Jule Christiansen that he had lied to her at Hauke's request. After spending a night together, Timo had told her that he was already married so that he could go about his work as an undercover agent in the Mafia without putting her in danger. When Hauke ​​learns that Timo has come back to Schwanitz, he is horrified. However, he cannot convince him to leave. Instead, Timo spends another night with Jule.

In the meantime, thanks to an operation scar on their foot, Hauke ​​and Lona have been able to determine the identity of the murdered man in the salt box. They find out that the dead man wanted to go to Schwanitzer Dorschwoche and that it is most likely that a professional killer engaged by the mafia has assumed his identity. They drive back as fast as they can and try to warn Timo about him in good time - but they are too late: the killer has already killed Timo. At the last moment, however, they can save Jule Christiansen. While Hauke ​​Jacobs stays with her, Lona Vogt tries to stop the killer. However, since she has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder since her accident, she cannot do it. The killer escapes with the help of the undertaker's apprentice Matti Zeiler.

After Hauke ​​Jacobs and Lona Vogt have found the killer's hiding place, there is a dramatic finale in Matti Zeiler's apartment, in which the life of veterinary assistant Jule Christiansen is again in danger. Finally, Hauke ​​Jacobs and Lona Vogt manage to put the killer outside. But they don't turn him off, but the undertaker's apprentice Matti Zeiler, who thereby fulfills a long-cherished wish: to kill someone one day.

The events mean that Lona Vogt is facing her memories for the first time. And through it she also remembered the kiss that Hauke ​​and she gave each other before her injury. Relieved, the two kiss again.
