Niels Bormann

Niels Bormann (* 1973 in Bremen ) is a German actor .

Life

Niels Bormann first founded a security company (“Garderoben-Bormann”) and a cake production facility for cafes in Berlin-Kreuzberg , before turning to the acting profession.

From 1996 to the academic year 1999/2000 he studied performing arts at the Berlin University of the Arts . After graduating, he completed a six-month postgraduate course in choral speaking with Einar Schleef at the Deutsches Theater Berlin . He then worked in various independent theater productions in Argentina (Buenos Aires), China ( Shanghai ), Ghana (Accra), Nigeria (Lagos) and the United States (Richmond, Virginia).

In Germany he had u. a. Guest engagements at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus (2001) and at the Schauspiel Dresden . Mainly, however, Bormann appeared on stages in Berlin, a. a. in Hebbel am Ufer (HAU) and several times with the group “Lubricat” in the Sophiensaele . In 2008 he first appeared as a guest at the Schaubühne Berlin , where he was then a permanent member of the ensemble from the 2009/10 season to 2013. There he worked a. a. with the directors Alvis Hermanis , David Marton , Jossi Wieler and Yael Ronen .

In 2014 he was a guest at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, where he appeared in Small Town Boy (director: Falk Richter ) and in the production Common Ground (director: Yael Ronen), which was invited to the 2015 Berliner Theatertreffen . From 2010, Bormann also worked as a lecturer at the University of the Arts.

Niels Bormann has been a permanent member of the Münchner Kammerspiele ensemble since the 2015/16 season .

Bormann has worked in numerous film and television productions since 2000. For cinema work he was u. a. directed by Barbara Teufel , Edwin Brienen , Kerstin Ahlrichs , Sylke Enders , Jonas Grosch and Maren Ade in front of the camera.

In the TV series Tatort and Polizeiruf 110 , in which Bormann was seen several times, a. Dror Zahavi , Christiane Balthasar , Edward Berger , Claudia Garde , Klaus Krämer , Hartmut Schoen , Titus Selge , Hermine Huntgeburth and Maris Pfeiffer among his directors. He also had episode roles in television series such as SOKO Leipzig (2009), SOKO Wismar (2010, as a suspected homosexual nurse and mobility therapist Jan Markowski) and Der Tatortreiniger (2015, as the murderer Ralf). In the 10th film of the ARD - crime film series Nord bei Nordwest , Nord bei Nordwest - Ein Killer und ein Halber (2020), Bormann played the psychopathic killer Jens Kolbe.

Niels Bormann lives in Berlin.

Awards

In 2004, Bormann was named "Best Actor of the Year" by the US newspaper Richmond Times . In 2015 he and the ensemble of Yaels Ronens Common Ground received the audience award at the Mülheimer Theatertage.
